Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Hail Whale collects through this website, why we collect it, and how it is used. Hail Whale is an early-stage service that operates storm-specific pages for the markets it currently serves (see hailwhale.ca for active storms), and this policy is written in plain language for that reason. It is not legal advice, and it does not replace the advice of a qualified privacy professional.
Information We Collect
When you complete the request form on this site, we collect:
- Name
- Phone number
- Email address
- Postal code
- Vehicle information (year, make, model)
- Your answers about storm location and visible hail damage
- Insurance claim status and insurance company
- Advertising and campaign information (such as UTM parameters and the page you arrived from), where available
- Your consent status
How We Use Your Information
We use this information to respond to your inspection request, connect you with one local repair partner, follow up with you about your request, and understand how well our advertising is working so we can reach other vehicle owners in the markets we serve who may need help.
Sharing Your Information
When you submit a request, we share your information with one local repair partner for the purpose of responding to your request. Hail Whale does not sell your information, and we do not send it to multiple repair shops. See our FAQ for more on how this works.
Third-Party Services
We rely on third-party services to operate this website and process requests. This currently includes a form-processing provider (Formspree), our web hosting provider, and — where configured — advertising and analytics platforms such as Meta (Facebook/Instagram). These providers may process your information as part of providing their service to us, under their own privacy policies.
Data Retention
We retain request information for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your request, connect you with a repair partner, and improve our service.
Your Choices
If you'd like to ask a question about your information, or request that we delete it, contact us at this email address.
Changes to This Policy
As Hail Whale grows and launches in new markets, this policy may be updated. We'll update the date at the top of this page when that happens.
